Young lady trying to showcase her talent as a beginner marketer by holding up a sign that says hire me!

Not so long ago at the peak of the recession, hundreds of candidates were battling for the limited UK job supply. However, the tides have now turned for Britain’s recruitment landscape. The UK now boasts an increasingly buoyant employment market which sees.

Britain’s economy continues to recover and consequently, businesses of a diverse range of sectors are increasing their recruitment intake.

The Telegraph recently published a report on the sectors that are topping the recruitment demand chart.

High Demand for IT Professionals with Java Development Skills

IT has been dubbed as one of the fastest-moving industries in the UK, with demand for IT professionals escalating at rapid levels.

According to The Telegraph, graduates with strong Java knowledge, or candidates with one to two years’ experience in Java development can now expect an annual salary of £35,000. This compares to 12 months ago when a Java developer with similar experience would be looking at a £28,000 salary.

Referring to the most search-for skill in recruitment, The Telegraph noted:
“Java, a programming language widely used by interactive websites, is frequently cited as the most searched-for-skill keyword from employers.”

Reinforcing the high demand for workers within the IT sector is the fact that in February this year there were 105,760 jobs advertised on the recruitment website Adzuna. This is an incredible increase of 6% in just six months.

As The Telegraph notes, out of these IT posts listed on Adzuna, more than 13,300 required Java skills.

Graduate Employment Soars

A separate report found that graduate recruitment is set to reach its highest levels for more than a decade, with employers in nine out of 13 major employment areas preparing to take on new graduates in 2015.

However, it is not only graduates that are enjoying a rosier recruitment future, as it is estimated that approximately 40% of the UK workforce will be monitoring the market and looking for new employment opportunities in 2015. The reasons spurring people into looking for new jobs and career paths have been cited as being due to the more buoyant jobs market and workers feeling more confident that they could be employed elsewhere.

Asides the IT sector, other industries currently experiencing sharp increases in recruitment are:

  • Healthcare, medical and nursing
  • Engineering
  • Accountancy and finance
  • Construction and property
  • Human resources
  • Marketing.

Marketing Offers Flexible job Opportunities

Being a flexible job that covers virtually every industry and employer, marketing offers a wealth of opportunities for a wide spectrum of workers from different backgrounds and education.

Similar to IT, the amount of marketing roles listed on Adzuna in February 2015 was significantly higher than those listed two years ago – a 75% increase.

The North West region of Britain, in particular, is experiencing sharp increases within the IT sector.

We have a number of opportunities currently available for IT professionals with Java Development skills.
